need advice, please
was going to roast a pork loin but it is too dang hot.

it is 4 pm already and we eat late this time of year (9 or even later sometimes, sigh) do I have time to do it in the crock pot or should I cut it up and do something else?

it's 5.3 lbs and I also have a small can of chipotles I was thinking of tossing in there (need to use up some flour tortillas and always have beans)

I haven't used them much - should I run them through the blender, chop or just dump the whole can in? add anything else? onions or garlic?

thanks!

1. I don't think so.
I'd cut it up and brown it off with some onion and make some chili. After you brown it off and get it cooked you may be able to transfer it into the Crock pot for a few hours to finish it off. Keep it on the High setting though. Look around for an electric pressure cooker. They're a great alternative to the crock pot and are wonderful when you want a hot meal on a warm day. I use mine at least 4 or 5 times a week year round.

2. its now 109 out and 93.5 in the house
I don't even want to brown it!

I already stuffed it in there and if it doesn't get done, we can cut it up and nuke it or just have it tomorrow.

Any ideas on the chipotles?

4. I wish
15 miles to town and the budget is tight. It may rain, - it's grumbling so if it cools off 15 or 20 degrees I can switch to the big oven.

ugh its hot

5. update
It came out great. My crockpot is a big 2 gallon oval and it cooks too high frankly, but that worked out good last night. It only took 2.5 hours on high and it was perfect - 160 and just shreddy/easy to cut with afork. I dumped the can of chipotles in there whole about 30 minutes after I started it (was waiting for advice on that but decided what the hell, lets see what happens)

The fat layer really absorbed the smoky flavor and darn if it didn't kind of smell like bacon while it was cooking. Nicely spicy and plenty of "gravy". I will do this again.
