Irish desserts?
Usually I hope that St. Paddy's day will pass without any notice from me, but I feel like making a special dessert. Dundee Cake? I suspect that's better made several days ahead. Jump in here, anyone.

1. There are a bunch of them here
http://irish.spike-jamie.com/desserts.html

Some of the names make them sound very tempting - Apple Amber, Irish Curant Tart and Gooseberry Crumple.

3. People eat my fancy soda bread for dessert
with sliced fruit or even ice cream. Really! I bake it every St. Pat's day for my Hispanic neighborhood

2 1/2 cups buttermilk

6 cups flour
1t baking soda
1t baking powder
1t salt
2T sugar
1/2 cup dried currants (substitute raisins, white raisins are best)
2T caraway seeds

Mix dry ingredients, add buttermilk, allow dough to rest for 10 minutes, form into round loaves, cut an x into the top, and place onto a cookie sheet dusted with cornmeal. Bake at 375 for 40-60 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.

Makes 2 loaves.

Just don't throw it at anybody. You'll kill 'em.

4. Yummmm... Sounds delicious!
Some 20 yrs ago, or so, I lived in New York City for a few years. I had a favorite restaurant that had some Irish specialties. Their Soda Bread was just great - I'll bet yours is too. I don't know if I've ever had it made with buttermilk before - this really sounds delicious!
