2. It is a little known fact that the spaghetti weevil has decimated US spaghetti crops, too.
My maternal grandfather grew a good deal of spaghetti in his back yard in Patterson, NJ. I recall in either 1958 or 1959, how bad it was when he lost his entire cop to the little bastards.

Boxed spaghetti is okay, but home grown is almost a different product.
