So, what Inaugural snacks are you making?
I'm going to a party tomorrow that has a Hawaiian theme, and everyone is bringing finger food. I just finished the marinade for Sake and Teriyaki crispy chicken wings and I'll throw them in the oven when I get there.

These are really good - because they cook at such a high heat they get nice and crispy, almost like they've been deep-fried.

1 c soy sauce
1 c sake
1 c water
1/4 c sugar
6 garlic chives or green onions, smashed
8 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
2-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced and smashed
3.5 - 4 lbs chicken wings, rinsed and patted dry

To make the marinade, put the soy sauce, sake, water, garlic, garlic chives, sugar and ginger in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce to low, and simmer for 10 minutes. Let the marinade cool.

With a knife or kitchen scissors, separate the drummettes from the wingtips at the joint. Place the chicken in a large ziplock freezer bag and add the marinade. Close and refrigerate overnight.

Preheat oven to 500F. Line a baking sheet completely with foil and place the wings on it. Brush on more marinade. Roast for about 45 minutes or until the wings are cooked and crisp. Serve immediately with lots of napkins.

What's on the inaugural menu for you all tomorrow?

and cooling. The cornbread - with buttermilk, creamed corn, regular corn, jalapenos, onions, garlic, sharp cheddar and Monterey Jack - is in the oven. Later, I'll put together a batch of Famous Dave's Coleslaw - I love it. And then the baby back ribs go in.

I'm looking through salad dressing recipes, since I feel the need to assemble a simple salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and various precious little lettuces.

Right now, I'm chowing down on a hoagie made of Genoa salami, provolone, honey garlic sauce, carmelized onions, dill pickle slice, and - ah, yes! - Miracle Whip.

I love Miracle Whip.

It smells so good here. Gotta get the eight-year stench of Chimpy out.......................
