Question about Ferrara Torrone candy
This one's for you Italiophiles out there. I was given a box of Ferrara Torrone for Christmas. I just found it (it got misplaced .... don't ask) and opened it. These look waaaaay smaller than I remember them as a kid (50's). Has anyone else noticed that they've gotten smaller or did they just seem to be bigger cuz I was liddle?

1. I remember seeing these made on FoodTV
Glada and Mario had that Italian sweets episode. I can't remember who made them. They did the special together but they split up all along the way visiting different Italian bakeries etc. I was very curious about this candy and hope one of my Italian groceries has them.

Although I never had them when I was little, I know how everything looked much bigger back then!

Oh lord. FoodTv has the Paula gets married episode on right now. They walked some dogs down the aisle. Puh-leeze!

2. You can get these online.
I've never dealt with any of these companies, but found them when I was looking for the picture in the OP.

I'm sure there are many others. My grandfather always had these on hand for holidays. They were considered a special treat ... and ya know ... they are!

And I SWEAR .... they were bigger! :)

They carry all sorts of things. I'll look for these in the case next time I'm there. I might be able to get just one to try it. If not, I'll be all set with these links. Thanks!

4. I think
It's just because you were liddle. :) My favorite is vanilla.

The local cheese shop/Italian import store always has them especially at Christmastime. I always get the variety pack in the little boxes. The kids used to pretend they were a train by lining up the boxes.

5. Wow, thanks for clearing a cobweb!
Hahaha .... liddle trains! I remember doing that, too. We thought those little boxes were the greatest thing since sliced bread! :)

6. Absolutely
My in-laws owned an import store throughout my husband's childhood into our childrens' childhood. My m-i-l introduced our kids to Torrone candy along with a lot of wonderful food.
