Another mystery thrift store find
Well, it was a mystery until a few minutes ago when I found out what it was.

The thing is, I can think of several uses for this, none of which are it's intended purpose.

When I saw this item, my first thought was that I could use it to dry out those reusable "green" bags (that keep veggies fresh).

Then, while trying to figure out what it could possibly be, I thought it would be very useful for holding a funnel, or strainer. The height is adjustable.

Then I thought maybe it'd be good for hanging small utensils from.

Or perhaps a banana hanger?

When I finally managed to find one of these on ebay (and it wasn't easy because when you see it, think of which key words you could use to search - not too many and they are all very general!) I was so surprised that it was nothing at all like what I was thinking it was for.

But now that I have it, and it's in the kitchen, I'm trying to think of more creative uses for it. So if you had one of these, what would you do with it?

6. Interesting
I briefly considered something like that, except the base had no lip so anything would slide right off.

Good find though, that's another thing that if I had stumbled upon it, wouldn't have known what it was. Probably would have thought it was a doll stand.

4. Your "what is it" is a doll stand. They come in many sizes
and clip around the waist of your collectible doll so that the doll will stand upright. The steel holder will slide to accommodate the slimmest part of the dolls waist.

I have bought them from doll supply catalogs for my daughter to use for her Ginny Doll collection.

Basically, it is a "holder upper"!

5. Yep, exactly
I had no idea. And it was really challenging searching on ebay when the only key words I could think of were "white" "metal" "adjustable" and maybe "holder" or "hanger" -- but you get a bazillion hits with those terms, lol.

Another application I have for it is as a kitchen version of a laboratory ring stand, in particular for a separatory funnel... I'm about to embark on some molecular gastronomy experiments and am equipping myself.

7. Yep - it's a doll holder
It's all about the "kitchen" for you, isn't it? or "Get your mind outta the kitchen for once!" :P
