I cheated on Mrs bearfan
I used store bought meatballs because I was in a hurry.

I cut them in half first.

Then put 7 garlic cloves through my garlic press and added onions

I added the canned tomatoes

and added some Italian seasonings. I didn't have fresh basil this time.

Let it simmer down for about 2 hours.

Make a salad to go with it

And you have the finished meal.

1. That's one yummy looking meal!
I broke down and bought a few bags of meatballs recently. Plain and Italian. They're just so handy to have in the pinch.

Seven garlic cloves? You're my kind of cook! I even have one of the giant <gasp> jars of minced in my fridge. I use it by the wooden spoonful. When I'm making green chile, neighbors in the next street know it.

Btw, nice touch with the olives resting in the egg whites. Those are egg whites?

2. Yes I only use the egg whites
Too much cholesterol in the yolks. I usually add mozzarella cheese on top too but I didn't have any and I didn't feel like going back to the store. I only used 7 garlic cloves because Mrs bearfan says I use too much garlic sometimes.

9. Please, please, please? Have you posted your Green Chile Recipe?
If not, I entreat you to. I used to eat it in Colorado Springs forty years ago, and I have been on a Holy Quest for the perfect recipe since!

10. I have one of those enormous jars of garlic, too.
I know it is cheating, but some nights I take any short cuts I can find. It's better than garlic powder.

3. Looks delicious!
I actually like the frozen meatballs when I don't have time or just don't feel like making homemade. They're pretty good when you jazz them up with some tasty sauce.

4. I know it.
In a pinch they're great. If I do make my own meatballs I use ground pork, Italian bread crumbs, onions, egg, and pepper. No salt since everything else will have salt in it already.

6. Most of them at the store were all dried out.
Mrs bearfan actually picked that one out.

11. Mmmmmm......
That looks delicious!

Next time I am at Costco, I will look for an enormous bag of frozen meatballs. I try to make my own and then freeze extra for later, but that doesn't always work out.

I have a frozen homemade shepard's pie in the freezer. I am thinking about busting it out tonight.
