That Ramen Noodle Salad Stuff
Had this for the first time last night at my daughters' NHS banquet. I had heard rumors of this salad for years, but had never seen it or run into it anyway. Last night I did and guess what? It was suprisingly delicious. I know it had Ramen noodles (dry), toasted almonds, sunflower seeds, shredded carrots and some type of prepared shredded cabbage. The dressing was light and sweet. Anyone have this recipe--my little Ramen Noodler 5-year old ate heaps of this.

4. Sounds very similar. It had some carrot grated in there too,
probably for color and the cabbage was very thinly sliced. This looks like it may be it--I don't know if it had the seasoning packet mixed in. It was very good--the sunflower seeds and toasted almonds gave it a good crunch with the cabbage and was very nutty. It probably had the MSG too, because I crave that stuff. Thanks!

2. Here's how I've made it.
I hardly ever make it, but when I do, nobody stops shoveling it into their mouths until there's not so much as a single broken ramen noodle left.

1 pkg oriental flavor ramen noodles
1 cup (or more, if you want) grilled, chopped boneless/skinless chicken breast
2 or 3 cups grated cabbage
2 or 3 cups grated Napa cabbage
shredded carrots
chopped green onions
toasted slivered or sliced almonds

Break up the noodles and spread on a baking sheet. Toast at 300 until they just begin to brown. Toss noodles together with all the other ingredients. For dressing: combine oriental seasoning packet with 2 teaspoons sugar, 1/4 cup oil and 1/4 cup rice or white vinegar. Pour over salad, toss and serve.

5. Oooh, with chicken too, then it could be the meal. Must have
the sunflower seeds though too, with the almonds.

I will try this weekend--thanks cooking comrades!

3. Except for that Seasoning Packet,
which is pretty much High Blood Pressure in foil, it's that salty, it sounds wonderful.

Who ever thought of eating the noodles - which are already fried - uncooked?

Sounds great, though.

6. My son and his friends all eat the noodles dry
They crush them up and pour the seasoning over them and eat it like a snack

7. Kids
They can eat anything without thought.

I hate them all for that. Even my own
.

Especially my own.
