Anyone have a good recipe for bourbon balls?
Everyone was talking about it earlier, and I want to hear some tried and true ones instead of searching the net...

2. Roffle! But seriously, folks
If I were you, I'd just grab the nearest recipe for rum balls and substitute the wild turkey or whatever for the rum.

3. here you go
Either my sister or I make these every Christmas, and it's a standard recipe but a good 'un.

2 1/2 cups vanilla wafers, finely crushed
1 cup confectioners sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 cup walnuts, finely chopped
3 tbsp. corn syrup
1/4 cup bourbon

Mix together first four ingredients. Add syrup and bourbon. Mix well. Shape into 1" balls and roll in confectioner's sugar. Put in an air-tight container and cure for at least 24 hours. Makes about 30 balls.

I prefer to roll these in a little dutch cocoa before the confectioner's sugar, but it's a matter of taste.

4. MMM - those sound great
I may make a batch and take to my fundie family's dry thanksgiving festivities. I would say that I only used bourbon flavoring.

Nah - I better not do that, but I'm definately going to give these a try.

I've also substituted graham crackers for the vanilla wafers. I also have substituted walnuts with Pecans. Gives it a different taste but just as good.

gingersnap rum balls.

Sub gingersnaps for vanilla wafers (will take longer to crush. A blender or food processor helps - crush in small batches)
Sub rum for bourbon
omit cocoa
Chop walnuts even finer or use pecan meal
add 1/4 cup finely chopped candied ginger

VERY, VERY IMPORTANT
Always let bourbon or rum balls age a while (I go 2 weeks), or they will taste raw.

12. Okay, you're covered on the rum-bourbon balls,
here is a Holiday Booze Cake:

You will need an angel food cake pan, oiled & floured

1 yellow cake mix ( not with pudding, just plain yellow cake mix)
1 3-oz. pkg. instant butterscotch pudding
5 eggs, separated
1 & 1/2 cups DRY sherry
1 % 1/3 cups vegetable oil
1 jar poppy seed ( about 3 oz.)
2 Tblps. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
pinch of cream of tartar

Beat your egg whites and set aside.
Mix together in large bowl, the egg yolks, cake mix, oil, booze, pudding mix, flour, baking soda, cream of tartar. Beat for 7 minutes, add the poppy seeds and beat another minute until well mixed.

It will be thick, don't worry.

Fold in your egg whites, fold in well.

Pour into the greased & floured angel food cake pan.

Bake at 350 degree preheated oven for 60 minutes.

Remove from oven, let cool for about 15 minutes, tap the sides and bottom of pan, and turn out quickly on to a cake server. Let totally cool.

Brush off any crumbs, Sift powdered sugar over the top and sides, drizzle a little booze over the top, then sift more powdered sugar over the top.

Cover when cool with plastic wrap.

This is even better the next day, and it freezes well, also !
