"Slow Food, USA." Any DU members?
I am intrigued by the concept. Is membership worth the $60 annual fee? A local convivia is listed for my area, but it has no activity associated with it. Slow Food Asheville, an hour away, seems to be more active. Anybody out there with any experiences (good/bad/otherwise) with Slow Food?

1. I've come THIS close to joining - and still might.
I'm in the SF bay area, which (I believe) is where slow food USA got its start, with a nudge from folks like Alice Waters. Last I read, they're trying to put together a big convention (I'm not sure if it'll be here, or elsewhere) in the US sometime next year. I think they're a fantastic group.

2. I've flirted with it, but never joined...
It takes a lot for me to spring to join a site (mainly because there are so many...)

3. Check out
http://www.forums.egullet.org

and the equllet site if you're interested in all aspects of food. All sorts of interesting topics from the ethics of foie gras to fast food. And some people posting there that you would hardly expect - Tony Bourdain, Jason Perlow, et al.

6. I found the Tony Bourdain thread!!
He seems like a genuine guy.

This is a thread about TB and he drops in from time to time.
