Tender Tummy Recipes?
Guess it's that time of year - some virus is going around and it's not the flu. We're both having upset tummies.

So other than much handwashing and chicken soup, what are your recipes for the delicate digestion?

1. First thing that comes to mind...
Is vegetable broth. It's the first thing I was given after gall bladder surgery. I figure it might be good for an empty, tender tummy. You're probably getting it in your chicken soup, though.

Jello might be okay, too, if you can handle the sugar. Do you like yogurt? Maybe some jello or yogurt with bits of banana? and when you're up to it, a soft boiled egg? I always like that when I'm ready for something more hardy. It has all that protein that can get a person feeling energetic.

Try not to worry about stuff. Get more rest with sweet dreams I hope you feel better soon!

5. I'm sleeping fine.
Yogurt and jello are a good idea, but I'm going to do pear and peach pieces instead of bananas. I really don't like bananas much.

Worry is kind of a constant right now. Until the insurance company rules on the house fire, we're stuck sitting here and waiting.

3. Tea and toast. Ginger ale.
Then there is the old hillbilly cureall, Coca Cola syrup over cracked ice. Don't laugh, it works.

4. Oh, yeah. The only time I really want Coke is when my stomach is
being difficult. Unfortunately, our preference for RC doesn't work as well.

Thanks for reminding me.

The problem with this is that otherwise I feel fine, but food isn't sitting well. So I'm hungry, but I know if I eat, I'm going to regret it. (I feel fine enough to paint and frame art, anyway.)

6. yogurt
specifically, Trader Joe's honey flavored greek style yogurt. It's delicious, and not very sweet.

7. No Trader Joe's within 1000 miles, to my great dismay....
There was one in Tempe not far from where I did my internship, and I loved it. But Colorado doesn't have a TJs yet, nor an IKEA.

How we survive, I don't know....

8. Some unbuttered toast or Rye-krisp crackers might be tolerable.

Many kinds of soups can be soothing to the tummy.

I hope that things get better soon, politicat.

9. H2S has had an upset tummy
Edited on Sat Mar-11-06 12:45 AM by Sparkly
and I've had LOTS of piano student out from it. (I won't even tell you about the one who got sick AT the piano, and all along the way to the bathroom...) I'm told letters have been sent home from schools all over this area, and 1/3 to 1/2 of some classes have been absent because of it.

H2S's problem is less likely a virus, and more likely a symptom of eating too much candy. (He can't resist those fruit-flavored jelly things, and while I was checking out some things at K-Mart, he snuck his way to another register and bought a big bag of gigantic gumdrop things.)

It nearly prevented him from eating half a leftover pizza for supper...!

Please don't provide TOO much sympathy. He needs to lower his sugar intake as it is.

(In his case, I recommend green tea, Sparkly "veggie medleys," and a good spanking :spank: )

12. I can't find it out here...
I went looking because it looked like it would work well for me, and not interact with the other meds I have to take.

No such luck. So I ordered some (and the poster; it will go well in the guest bath) but they're not here yet.

Good luck with the veggie medleys and the spankings...

13. I think I picked it up when I went into the office last week...
Apparently a lot of the girls have had something of the sort (which makes it rough on we therapists, because when you're dealing with eating disorders, how do you know when the vomiting is due to a bug and not self-induced??) but I wasn't going to abstain from contact with them. I had a memo on my desk from the county health department too, noting a surge in gastro intestinal complaints, and that it did not appear to be e coli related. (Thanks, folks. :eyes:

So I think I brought it home. Oops.

I'm sorry about the piano. Is it okay?

We have just found that home-made ice cream made with 2% milk and no eggs is very soothing.
