White Sweet Potato Season Has Arrived!
Oh, these gnarled little babies are SO good, and so hard to find, with a really short season. They're grown on Virginia's Eastern Shore, and some people call them Haymans.

But, they're here now, and I just thinly sliced one and ate it, slice by slice, raw.

That's how good they are.

That was dinner.

1. I've never heard of them, but that sounds like a
great diet! Are they crispy like I'd imagine a raw sweet pot. would be? It actually doesn't sound that appetizing, but I'll take your word for it. :)

3. They're sweet,
and strangely crisp and buttery at the same time.

I like all vegetables raw, though - even corn and white potatoes.

Try thinly slicing a raw sweet potato into a salad sometime. You'll LOVE it.

4. Better
Get them if you see them.

But, don't put them in plastic bags. They're weird - they sweat, and that quickly, there's mold on the skin.

So, yeah, get them and just steam or bake them up - they're not big, so watch the timing.

They're really nice. Enjoy............

7. So far as I know,
they're only grown on Virginia's Eastern Shore. But, because I am nothing if not a diligent researcher, I found this for you:

NOTTINGHAM BROTHERS, INC.
Ad Nottingham
P.O. Box 266
Nassawsdox, VA 23413
757/442-2826, FAX: 757/442-5739
Product(s): Hayman sweet potatoes.

They might be able to help you.

And then I found THIS, about storing, cooking, and eating Hayman sweets:

Let me know if you get any, and how you like them - best of luck to you.

but it's a real place - http://tinyurl.com/d4z3j

Actually, it's Nassawadox. The cut-and-copy I did contained a typo.
