Pat Conroy has written a cookbook/memoir

I started to post this in Cooking but thought there might be more interest here among his people. ;-)

There's a thread about his books in Fiction now and that inspired me to see what he was up to. I went to his site (patconroy.com) and learned about the new book and his current book tour. Here's info about one of his appearances in Atlanta and the book.

The event mentioned is at the Margaret Mitchell House. He'll make three more appearances in Atlanta over Dec. 1-2 and then go to Beaufort, NOLA, and Pawley's Island -- see his page if you're in any of those locations and want details. I met him at a book signing for "Beach Music" but I'd love to hear him give a lecture, thinking about going to hear him at the Georgia Book Center. May sign up for the waiting list for this event, too:

6:00 Reception, 7:00 Author's Lecture
Tuesday, November 30th
Admission: $8, Free to Members

***PLEASE NOTE: This event is sold out. If you wish to be placed on the waiting list, please phone 770-578-3502. ***

America’s favorite storyteller, Pat Conroy, is back with The Pat Conroy Cookbook. Delighting us with tales of his passion for cooking and good food and the people, places, and great meals he has experienced, Conroy mixes them together with mouthwatering recipes from the Deep South and the world beyond. Each chapter opens with a story told with the inimitable brio of the author.

There are 100 delicious recipes in The Pat Conroy Cookbook, and because it is a memoir as well as a cookbook, there are just as many stories. Stories about people, places, great meals, and a life lived large, by one of the most beloved literary figures of our time. Learn why Anne Rivers Siddons praises, "The Pat Conroy Cookbook is more than just that. It’s a virtual ‘Ode to Joy.’ Read it; cook from it. You will eat better than you ever have in your life, and will know more about Pat Conroy, perhaps, than he would ever tell you."

A master storyteller and passionate cook, Conroy believes that "a recipe is a story that ends with a good meal." Conroy is the bestselling author of The Water Is Wide, The Great Santini, The Lords of Discipline, The Prince of Tides, Beach Music, and My Losing Season. Be sure to make your reservations now for an event you won’t want to miss!

( I checked and Amazon has the cookbook for $15.60. I'm speaking to Santa about this very soon.)

1. I almost bought this yesterday.
But I figure one of my relatives will call me in a days and ask what book I want for Christmas this year lol. I love Conroy's books. I figure he can't go wrong with a cookbook lol.

2. I checked zooba.com and they have Pat's cookbook,

so I bumped it to the top of my list, making it the book they're sending me this month. (You have to buy a book every month from zooba but each book is only $9.99 and no shipping charge. You choose the books you want, keep a wish list at the site, and each month they send the book at the top of your list. I like it. They're part of the group of book clubs that include Book of the Month, Quality Paperback, but to me this is the easiest, cheapest way to get books, with a pretty good selection of all sorts of books. Of course, YMMV and NAYY !)

3. I got my copy today and it's all I'd hoped,

except it could have been longer! Great stories, great recipes. Recommended.
