Test driving a brand new iMac today

A friend got a brand new 21.5" iMac and he let me try it out. It's got a 2.5ghz quad core processor and 4gb of ram. OSX Lion. I needed to break up a 40 minute DVD that was shot of my band a couple weeks ago into individual songs and process output files for youtube.


I have to say, I'm underwhelmed, I thought it would be a really fast machine. My old dual processor G4 powermac tower will dust its ass. Unless there are some settings that need to be optimized or something else that can be done to bring it up to speed,I just have to say, damn....I can't believe they charge that much for a machine that slow :(
