Get a load of the whiny reviewers in iTunes. Mostly complaining about the cost of apps.

They are bringing down the ratings of perfectly good apps because they don't want to pay $2.99.

And there are those who complain about how some free apps require you to pay for a service online to use them. Look at the blogging apps. "What a ripoff. You have to PAY for the Typepad blogging service to use this so called free app! Misleading!!"

Idiots.

Apple needs to delete the comments of people who haven't actually downloads the app or are just plain stupid.

That's my whiny two cents.

2. There's a lot of stupidity there
I've picked up a few apps for my iPod Touch, and reading the reviews can certainly be annoying at times.

One of the first things I looked for was an RPN calculator (I went with PCalc). There are a few of these around, and in each case someone has given it a bad review because "you've already got the Apple calculator app". Listen, idiot, that's not RPN; if you don't even know what that means, how are you qualified to comment?

A few other reviews I've noticed (I don't have any of these apps):

IfFound: a simple little free app which allows you to turn your contact info into wallpaper, so if you lose your phone or iPod the person who finds it may hopefully return it to you. Some reviewers gave it a low score because they believe people aren't that honest. Maybe, maybe not, but if you think that, just don't download it; why is it a reason to complain? The app is free, after all: it's not like the author is ripping off anyone.

Virgin Radio: a free Internet radio app for an Italian station. Idiots giving it a low score because, uh, it's not English. Uh, dude, the description is in Italian: big clue there.

More Cowbell: a free app which allows you to add more cowbell to your music. Some jerks complained that it's pointless. Of course it is! It's a gag! If you don't want it, don't download it!

When I read the reviews, I'm looking for comments from people who've used the app and have useful observations to make, like "it crashes a lot". If you don't want it in the first place, your opinion is of no use to me.

3. I love the ones who pooh-pooh the check list programs.
"The iPhone already has the Notes app. Why would I pay $1.99 for this?"

Because it's completely different, dumbass!

5. I've been doing the NY Times every day on my iPod Touch
and have the Lonely Planet Mandarin app. Remote is pretty cool, once I got it to work.

The NY Times (latest version fixes the "article not downloaded" problem) is really pretty good to read on the screen; they did this one right!

7. I have about 2 dozen apps (including three Twitter clients), and my favorites are:
1) Pandora radio — how did I ever live without Pandora all these yeara?

2) Motion X Poker — just shake those dice once and you'll be addicted

3) Scrabble — came in very handy while waiting in line at the Apple store with a couple of buddies so they could get iPhones. We were able to amuse ourselves very well!

4) City Transit (NYC) — this one has already earned back its purchase price

Honorable mention: Urbanspoon, AirMe, Box Office, and AOL Radio (because I can listen to Stephanie Miller in the morning from a Seattle station)

10. I have only downloaded the free ones so far
But I see no reason to complain since the prices I have seen are very reasonable.
