New Mac user here - how do i start a photo file?...
I am used to my pc where i can grab a pic from anywhere and it automatically goes into a picture file
so far, on here, I can only drag it to my desktop but can't put it on-line
I prefer saving it to a file like in my pc

1. I might be able to give some tips, but you need to clarify a couple of things, please.

By grab a pic from anywhere - do you mean from the net, in a browser? What do you mean anywhere?

You can drag to desktop (say a pic inside a browser) and put it in any folder (maybe your home/pictures folder) -- "but can't put it online" -- do you mean like uploading to the web? Like an ftp program or something else?

You can save to a file, of course. i will assume a few things here and guess - to get the equivalent of right mouse button, hold the ctrl key while clicking, and the contextual popup menu will have a save image, copy image (to copy buffer, which you can then past into photoshop, for example) and some other options.

Or just use right mouse button if you have a multi button mouse of course. ;)

In safari, you can set preferences (like windows' options) to any download folder you want. I make a "downloads" folder in my home folder. some do it within docuuments - the point is to keep some order, or it all becomes a mess after awhile. this is true of all file systems.

If you clarify what is really is you are trying to do, I will give you some more help if I can.

Good luck.

3. Why do people put "54" after their name.
I've seen it here with you, breeze54, and online playing Unreal Tournament(random54).

what gives?

5. Drag it from your desktop into iPhoto.
Be sure your on the album you want it to be in, or you'll have to drag it from the library to your preferred album. It gets to be a needle/haystack thing when you reach over 7000 photos like I have.

6. did you get the funnel with your machine, or do you need one?
because you have to add developer, fixer and toner solution to your hard drive. Otherwise the photos age with time. If you have a laptop, just pour about an ounce each into the superdrive.

Now, when your film is shot, close your eyes (otherwise you will overexpose the film) and open the film canister. Carefully wrap the film about (KEEP YOUR EYES CLOSED) the biggest USB CORD, then plug in that cord into your machine. Shake the fluids inside the machine, then create a new folder on your desktop. Voila! INSTANT PHOTOS!
