New Mac Owner: Question re Pages
I am one of those people who bought macbook on-line without clicking i-work button. So I don't have Pages. Me thinking of getting it. What is the price?

I set up the 30 day free trial. I am on my PC at work now, but would like some pointers on what I need to do to purchase Pages when I get home tonight.

Also, can documents created on PAGES be e-mailed to others using a PC such that they can read the Pages document ( i.e will pages translate to WORD). ?

1. Some answers
You can buy pages on apple.com for $79 - I believe they will email you a serial number to activate your trial copy so you dont have to wait for a disc to be mailed to you.

You can export any document in pages to a PDF, a Aord document, Rich Text format or Plain Text - so almost anyone can open a file if you export it to any of those file formats.

You can also see a lot of its features here: http://www.apple.com/iwork/

3. I use Pages and word 97 for final layout
I exported the thing to Word, and it was seamless

You can go see the PDF here

Issue four was produced using a variety of programs (to be honest)

I used Scrivener to put it together... and pages to edit... and final layout on word 7... as well as a PDF creator

4. If you didn't already buy it
You might want to check out NeoOffice first. It's an open source office suite that is completely compatible with the MS Office Suite. Just google NeoOffice. You can download the program for free. After you check it out, if it's something you will use, you can make a donation to them. I don't have iWorks and feel no need for it because of NeoOffice. I used Clarisworks back in System 9 days and sorely wished I could afford Office instead. I never feel that way with NeoOffice. I think it's better than MS Office.
