We have an Apple store that just opened Saturday
It is sorta close to me about 30 miles, I missed the opening
because I didn't open my e-mail for 5 days. I can't afford to buy
anything but plan to take my powerbook up to get it tuned up at the genius bar.

I have never been to a real apple store.

2. It was a good experience
San Luis Obispo is a college town (Cal Poly) of 52,000 they already had an independent Apple Superstore
that has been there for 9 years, but not an official Apple store.

Apple did a good job fitting the store into the downtown architectural scheme
the store is only on one floor and on the corner of downtown.

I used the apple site, on line, to set my appointment with the genius bar and arrived 5 minutes before
by appointed time. The store is small and narrow but was packed maybe 50 people in the store.
Everyone was messing around on every available device they displayed. I played with the appleTV a little
after I left.

This is what it looked like but had a silver wall instead and much narrower.

The genius bar is located in the back with two big screens which displayed who is up next, my name
was listed. Around where I was seated other screens where displaying helpful hints and information.
The apple genius fixed some of my problems I had created for myself and told me to come back
because I only got 15 minutes for free. I got home and fixed somethings but need to go back
so he can show me the next steps I need to do to find some files I have misplaced.

3. What do they charge after 15 minutes?
I think we will have an Apple Store in Louisville. CompUSA has an Apple section staffed by an Apple representative.

6. yes, when I had my blue screen of death problem
the guy at the genius bar spent three hours working on it (out of warranty, no less) gratis. that alone helped justify the purchase in the first place. think I could get three hours of free tech support for a two year old Dell?

warning: if you need to hit the Bar, do it before the iPhone comes out, they expect to get slammed.

7. Let's hope it is because of sales, not problems.
