1. BTW, Cisco may not have a leg to stand on with their
trademark infringement lawsuit. They may have lost the rights to that name last year.

2. That's good!
I thought it was pretty odd that Apple would make a blunder like that. Hope this gets worked out quickly. Cisco may just be wrangling for a few bucks to give up rights to the name.

3. Cringley thought that Apple did it just to get press.
He figured they could settle with them and agree to change the name to something like Apple Phone.

But if Cisco did lose the rights to the name iPhone it will be a win win situation for Apple, they got the free publicity and the name they wanted.

5. Jobs is the master of Hype. I don't think he would have
used the name if he didn't see more of an upside than a downside. Cisco may have screwed up and didn't protect its trademark.
