I'm an After Effects animator at a tv station and we switched from Quantel systems to Dells. After TWO YEARS of crashes and headaches, my boss finally threw in the towel and switched to G5's.
I haven't had a problem since.
I'm so happy I took out a loan against my 401K to get myself one too! I can't wait.
The only thing that kinda stinks is Invigorator. Invigorator was faster on the Dell but the Dell crashed so often it didn't matter, I spent more time waiting for the Dell POS to reboot than working.
Garbage.
I don't mind PC's for surfing the web but that's about it. Microsucks Windblows is so friggen unstable and I have a firewall and still find about 30 pieces of crap downloaded into my machine each time I run Ad Aware.
3. Most people overlook the time involved in managing the computer
There are a number of apps that run faster on a Windows machine. But if you add in the time need to keep the machine running or to keep the application running properly, the faster speed of execution becomes a moot point.
I was the network administrator and desktop support for a floor of graphic artists, each of whom were using Macs. I had to work very little to keep all the machines in good working order.
