Carrie Underwood, finalist on American Idol, is a vegan?

I've never watched the show, but at least I have someone to root for as America puts itself on hold for the final show.

I read this comment (that she's a vegan) on the Springfield News Leader site, and the comment came from the 3rd place finisher. Granted, that's not much of a certification of fact, but it is intriguing.

1. I wouldn't be surprised.

I started watching it for the first time a couple months ago. Carrie sang Heart's "Alone" and it blew me away. I had to keep watching after that! They did a segment one week at her home where they talked about her love of animals, and her mother said "I think she likes animals more than people."

The winner of this year's America's Next Top Model was a vegetarian. She mentioned it about halfway through the season. Earlier in the season all the girls had to do a photo shoot playing tennis while a photographer harassed them. Naima was the only one who didn't get stressed out and laughed it off. In light of the new information I thought -- of course! :)

I just phoned my wife to tell her this. She is a big Constantine Maroulis fan and has bashed Carrie (lightly). I told her that Carrie was a vegan. She said, "Well, damn. I like her now."
