Chicago Reptile House-Action needed.
I was out looking for pieces of driftwood for my foster lizards to climb on and I saw this store, so I thought I'd check it out.

The conditions in which the animals are kept is deplorable. Here is a link: http://www.chicagoreptile.net/store.htm As you can see in the 2nd and 3rd pictures, there are shelves and shelves of plastic bins. It is in these bins that the snakes and tarantulas are kept. They have no light or warmth, just the bin. At least the other lizards have room to move about in their cages.

This shop also sells baby allegators for $119.00. It's cruel to do this when we KNOW what will happen when the allegator gets bigger. Right below the babies, they have a tank (about a 40 gallon) with a medium sized allegator about 1.5 feet in length. Finally, to the right they have what essentially is a bookshelf. In it is a big allegator. This one is probably about 3 or 4 feet long and thick. It is kept behind glass on a shelf that has NO bedding and NO substrate and NO lighting. THe shelf hugs the allegator pretty closely and I doubt the allegator could turn around, at least not without some very strenuous effort.

If you are around the Chicago area, you can check it out yourself. This is the address and contact information.
