Bird Poisoning Draws Sanctions for Ex-Candidate

ROME -- Former congressional candidate Roger Kahn and his ranch manager have been sentenced to two months of home confinement and fined $15,000 each for poisoning more than 3,000 wild birds in northwest Georgia, authorities said Thursday.


U.S. District Judge Harold L. Murphy also ordered Kahn Cattle Company to pay $95,664 in restitution and fined it $170,000 for illegally disposing of hazardous waste.

Kahn, 59, and Glen M. Bramlett, 49, also were ordered to perform 160 hours of community service and serve a year of supervised release, U.S. Attorney David Nahmias said.
