1. Come clean...
Which one, Bob or Jenna put you up to this? Just kidding. Glad to see them get the publicity.

I can recall when I was just a "lowly vegetarian" and I saw a t-shirt sold by a big org, that I won't name here, that took the letters from "vegetarian" and removed them, leaving "vegan" and remarked that "the animals didn't need your excuses" in regards.

Yeah, okay. Still went vegan, though that message pissed me off. Matter of fact, it pissed a number of folks I know off. Well, not only went vegan, but...well, did what I've done.

I gotta address "Carl" though:

"But for many vegans—who also eschew animal products like the dairy and eggs eaten by vegetarians—love may not be enough to conquer ideology. “I’m in a relationship with a murderer,” bemoans Carl, one of many vegans who wrote in to the “Vegan Freak” podcast for romantic advice. Carl, who didn’t give his last name, says his girlfriend is a regular vegetarian, and their differences are becoming a major source of tension."

Uh, hey, Carl...you drive a car? Live in a house? Use electricity? Yeah, uh your chick is in a relationship with a murderer too, buddy. Purity sucks when you drag it out, dude.

I hate this shit. Watching "activists" drive a big fucking wedge between each other, the vegans making vegetarians feel like shit for not "living up to" where they are. Way to embrace the like minded, you fuckwads. Any vegan that tells a vegetarian that they're a "murderer" is a total fucking assbag in my opinion. And, they can go fuck themselves.

Any wonder why I don't frequent certain websites? Didn't think so. Oh, but then, Bob didn't really want me around, as I recall.

Bottom line...the vegan that goes after a vegetarian for not doing enough, is an idiot, and around here, can fucking deal with me.

Good luck, too. I've got pretty good street cred.

2. I'm not real happy with that angle
I mean, why 1.5% of the population can have issues with another 3% (or whatever this week's figures are?) Seems like the big issue would be why vegan-omni relationships can be problematic, but I'm not writing for Newsweek and they didn't ask me.

I think it's funny that between this and the "vegansexuals" articles a few months back the mating habits of vegans are getting so much press. I find myself wondering if it's an easy way to talk about veganism without really talking about why people go vegan.

ps I wouldn't date an ovo-lacto. I have a perfectly lovely vegan boyfriend (did you know that? ;) ) but even if I didn't, more for aesthetic reasons than ethical ones, though those would likely be an issue as well (I have a really sensitive sense of smell, and to me ovo lactos tend to smell like cheese, especially when they sweat, which would be uncomfortable in a dating situation, y'know?)

pps While I think that's an awesome pic of the freaks, they were married before they went vegan so I'm not super sure why they're the focus of an article on finding vegan romance or whatever.

3. Yep.
Nasty purists giving me crap for being a lowly vegetarian is why I left VF. I don't take crap for being an atheist or lesbian, and I'm not going to take it for being "only vegetarian" either.
