1. We've had a worm bin for three years.

They are very happy and love to eat our veggie/fruit scraps.

The previous owners of our house (actually two owners back - the woman who sold us the house was not at all into gardening, to put it mildly...) replaced all the dirt with compost, so we're lucky we can grow things well here. I think next year we'll be about ready to do that again.

You're right, it is easy and awesome. :)

2. Our trash is very minimal .... and we love to feed the little wigglers

We have curbside recycling here in our town a little north of Seattle, and that helps too.

The climate in the Pacific Northwest close to Puget Sound allows us to keep active bins totally outside all winter long. The little frost and snow we see only marginally slows the worms down. The compost heat keeps them happy.

A few years ago when I relocated here from Seattle, I restarted my bins with about 100 wigglers that I picked up at a local hardware store. Now we have 3 very active bins with countless thousands.

More folks should be doing this.

When we have organic produce a little too buggy, or a little old, it is wonderful to know that the little wigglers will be having another happy meal.

The worm castings, compost tea and other compost matter are just like superfood for plants of all types. Lots of luck with your garden!
