Do you have pets? If so...can I see them?
These are my cats:

This is Stitch. She and her sister were ferals I took in when they were kittens. I don't know why she looks like she sat on a tack in this picture. She usually doesn't have such wide eyes. But she's a beauty anyway.

This is Lilo. She is Stitch's sister and really quite ornery. She likes to hit the other cats for no good reason. The dot on her nose is from about two years ago when she was a small kitten. She used to, and still does actually, like to touch everything with her nose. My mom was cat-sitting that weekend and Lilo was harassing her to get at the pen. Somehow she managed to touch her nose to the pen and Voila. Her nose leather was permanantly marked.

This is Koda. I got both him and his brother from a vet who had taken them in off the street. She couldn't keep them because her male cat was very aggressive and was constantly spraying them. Sadly, they were declawed when I got them. The vet wanted to give them the best chance at getting a home, so she declawed them before she put them up for adoption. Koda is a lover, and the friendliest cat I have. Doesn't he look seductive?

This is Kenai, Koda's brother. I think he might have been the runt of the litter. Remember that fairy tale about the tin soldier who only had one leg because he was the last one poured into the mold and there wasn't enough tin to finish him? That's Kenai. He doesn't have enough skin to cover his face. He also has a tiny head and a short tail. With his stripes, he kind of looks like a raccoon from the rear.

1. Great idea!

Your babies are so cute! I love pet pics!! :P

This is Smudge. Named so because his colors "smudge" together. He came from the pound on December 26th 1998. He is very hyper and crazy, but he is an absolute sweetie and I adore him. He will jump at any chance he can to snuggle with you!

This is Boo. He is came from Boxer rescue when he was 4 months old. At first Smudge was VERY jealous, but now they are best buddies and "spoon" evey night. :P Boo is very sweet, gentle and well behaved, unlike his brother :P

And here is a snuggle picture :)

This is Linus. Here he is sitting with my mom at Christmas. Oh where do I begin? He was abandoned as a kitten when I worked at an animal hospital, and I took him home. He was A MESS. He had ringworm, which I didn't know. I was promptly covered in it. Then we discovered he had chronic diarrhea, not fun either. The vet told us he had so many problems we should put him down, but we kept trying. That was 5 years ago. Now he is as healthy as any other kitty, and even sweeter. He wears his sweater when it's cold, (yes, he likes it!)and he is very unique. He has a puppy cut because he is one big mat if he doesn't get cut regularly. He acts like a dog and ignores the other cats. He only plays with the dogs. :P

This is Chewy. He is mean to strangers, and always has been. He used to sit on top of the cabinets in the kitchen and hiss and swat at people when they'd walk by. The older he gets though, the sweeter he gets! He snuggles with me a lot anymore, and has even become affectionate to the other cats. He loves to sleep in the linen closet behind the towels and scare you when you open the door. :)

And this is Snuffles. He is afraid of his own shadow most of the time, but ocasionally he'll let you hold him. Very occasionally :P
He is such a beautiful cat too, it's a shame he doesn't come out from hiding more often! He was getting treats here, that's how I got such a good picture! He and Chewy are buddies :)

and I see that you're a Disney fan; hell, you'd have to be to sit through Brother Bear, lol! My former colleagues and many of my students made those films (Lilo and Stitch and Brother Bear). I'll send a couple of them a link to this page. The guys who worked on Kenai and Koda will be especially pleased (a few of them are cat lovers, too). :-)

I'm lazy right now, so I'm just gonna post my kitties Catster pages:

3. Mine.
This is Abigail. I got her from the CARE program that worked out of Petsmart. She looked like a cat I had when I was younger, so she was an instant adoption. She's incredibly sweet, loves laps, and follows me around like a puppy dog. She even waits by the door when I come home from work.

(for some reason, Photobucket made the pic extra-small)

This is Annabel. How I got her is a funny story: my neighbor came to the door one rainy night, knowing I had cats, and asked if this was my cat. She looked just like Abigail (an inside cat), so I freaked and said, "Good god yes this is my cat!" totally freaking out that Abigail was outside. So we let her loose in the house. Then I look, and see Abigail sitting on the couch asleep. Suddenly, I realized that this was not Abigail. Anyway, it was cold and wet outside, so I fed Annabel, and she was eating so much that she was choking, obviously hungry. I decided to keep her, and her and Abigail get along great. She's kind of pissy, but gets along fine with Abigail. After I got her spayed, she's turned into a lapcat that eats about 20 times a day. She's gotten a lot thicker since I took this picture.

Just in case no one believes me that these are two separate cats:

By the way, it's Abigail's birthday, so everyone wish her a happy birthday! I'm getting her a can of tuna (sorry, my cats aren't vegan yet).

4. OMG!
Your cats look just like my kitty Miro! (See the Catster links, above).

Sorry, but cats can't survive as vegetarians. Like Mongoose and hyena, cats are obligate carnivores-they must have meat. My solution is to feed mine foods like Organix and Newman's Own(made from free ranging, grain fed chickens. Dogs, on the other hand, can live and thrive on an all vegetarian diet.

Oh, and Happy Birthday Abigail!

In a sweeter, less destructive moment he looks like this:

He is also my third son. People may not understand this, but he talks like a toddler, he will outlive me, and in my opinion he qualifies for personhood just like my other kids did at age two or so.

9. What lovely kitties! Thanks so much for posting their pix!
Okay, here are my guys. They all have long and sad stories, like yours. *sigh*;(

Meneken. A purebred Brussels Griffon who, amazingly, no one would take. He was threatened with euthanasia, twice, but then he found me. He belonged to an older lady, who died, and was placed separately from his biological sister, who he'd been with all his life, and she was the leader. He bonded instantly with my cocker spaniel, who loved her little acolyte, but I lost her six months after I adopted him, despite fighting the good fight. *sigh*

Sara. She was found as a stray in Ohio, and was scheduled to be gassed, which, apparently, they still do there. But there is a group of young people who run a kind of "underground railroad," bringing animals to rescue groups in New York and Vermont, where we have tougher animal protection laws. She was such a nice dog that the people working at the horrific place where she was convinced them to include her. And I adopted her, as another "sister" for Meneken. *sigh*

And Catlin, who I lost several months ago. This was really tough, since she was the pet who I rescued, myself. And it was not easy. I fed her, outside, for four months before I managed to bring her in and I finally had to resort to a "have a heart" trap to do it. It was getting cold and I was getting worried. Apparently, she'd been left by a neighbor who moved. *sigh* She had a rough time settling in, since she'd been out far too long, but dental surgery transformed her. She must have been in pain.

And last, but never least, my love, Rhiannon, a truly amazing little being, who I agreed to take after my uncle died. She was the kitty of a lifetime.

27. I've got some.
I have 7 cats and 2 Russian tortoises. I don't have pictures of all 7 available to post here, so I'll post what I have.

I'll start with my dear departed Tigger, who died on March 17, 2003. He was my very first animal companion. When I was a kid, the only pets we had were goldfish. We got him when he was about 6 weeks old, and he lit up our lives for 15-1/2 years. No one will ever take his place in my heart. His ashes reside in a beautiful urn in our entertainment center. When it's my time to go, Tigger ashes are going with me.

This is Alex. Alex joined our family when we still lived in the midwest. We adopted him from the Kenosha County Humane Society. He, along with Tigger and Kaylee, made the 2,000 mile trip in our van to the Southwest. He's the alpha male of the bunch, and has earned the nickname, "The Sheriff." He's very social, but can also be a bully. He has beautiful two-color eyes.

This is Watson, our only purebred. He's the beauty of our bunch and has a wonderful personality. I've never seen a cat with whiskers as long as Watson's. He adores me, and follows me around the house. He is very tolerant and gentle. A true pacifist.

This is Cairo. The maniac of the group. He was adopted from a local animal rescue organization my daughter and I volunteered for. He has the messiest fur I've ever seen and hates being groomed. He loves going outdoors and walks on a leash.

This is Monet and Mozart. Both came from the rescue shelter we volunteered for. Monet has the softest fur and Mozart sings at the top of his lungs. These two were the last to join our family, and as you can see from this picture, Mozart has adopted Monet as his.

Our last two are Kaylee and Clio. My niece found Kaylee abandoned in their neighbor's garage when she was a kitten. When I took her to the vet she was so infested with fleas that she was severely anemic. The vet said she probably wouldn't have survived more than a couple of days if she hadn't been found. She's a fighter to this day. Clio was adopted from the same place as Cairo, Monet, and Mozart. She and Cairo play all the time, and she usually kicks his ass. I'll post pictures of them if I ever get around to uploading them.

28. My girl Annabel is very similar to Cairo
regarding the grooming.

Her sister (not really related, but still a sister) Abigail loves to be brushed, but Annabel absolutely will not have it. She sheds like mad, but she won't let me brush her. She's the first cat I've ever met that doesn't like brushing.

Also, Alex looks like my roommate's cat Bob. I'll have to post pics of him sometime.

30. Cairo gets so indignant if we try to brush him.
The problem for him isn't shedding as much as it's knots. He get knots all along his belly, and he won't let me brush them out. My husband and I have had some success carefully cutting them out, one at a time, of course. He holds, I cut, Cairo squirms free. Cairo also pulls them out himself. It's really odd to find one of his knots on the floor, but I guess that's his method of fur management.

29. It was Abigail's birthday in post 3
But it's Annabel's 1st birthday this month (I don't when either of my cats were born exactly, especially Annabel, so I just estimate by month).

This is what happened to her since you last saw her:

Annabel chewing on her foot
(she's gained a ton of weight since she was spayed)

Abigail is still here too.

(Sorry the pics are crap; they were taken with my phone instead of my camera, so they're a little blurry and the lighting is screwed up)

33. Shhhhhhhhh, I've cheated.....but what a great idea
I don't have photos on the computer yet, so I found some that look very close to my fur and shell kids:

Holly's a longhaired doxie, 14 years old. Her ears are all red, instead of the black in this sketch:

This is our desert tortoise we rescued in 1983 as a hatchling. She's about the size of a dinner plate now, and won't get much larger.

It was so nice to meet your "kids" too. You're a very inspiring group!!!

34. With pleasure!
This is my pooch LuLu. She's an Aussie Shepard mix.

This are my young ones. They are sisters, and were taken in as kittens in 2004. They're about 1.5 years now. The little grey one is Prudence and the little buff one is Beatrix.

This is my big guy, Basil. He turned 5 this year. He's quite the office assistant.

Sometimes the work becomes too overwhelming, and Basil and I are forced to take on another worker. Crooks fills in nicely. He'll be 3 this year. Please note that neither cat exhibits a strong work ethic.

Oh..no, no no... hardly done. We found ourselves the owner of a bird after her guardian died. Her name is now Doris.

And I don't have a picture of my guinea pig on this computer for some reason, so here is a picture of my cat in her cage. Imagine that you are viewing a very large, rather fiesty guinea pig. Don't worry.... the dog is perplexed as well.
