How to tell if tofu is bad?
I usually buy vacuum packed tofu, but I decided to save some money and get the bulk. It smells a little "different." Sorry I don't know how else to describe it. I've had it three days and have changed the water everyday. How do I tell if it's bad? Would it best to use it for baked tofu that will be cooked for a long time?

1. It smells sour if it's gone bad
Do you have a whole bunch of it? I'm often in the "when in doubt, throw it out" camp when it comes to iffy food. If it's gone bad, unfortunately cooking won't help it. :(

3. Ba-dum-CH!
I was going to answer, "if it starts coming home with bloodshot eyes and it's grades start to slip."

Aren't WE the helpful ones?

4. And I was going to say
"if it needs a good SPANKING, then it's probably gone very, very bad."

To think that some folks think we're uptight.

5. Awwww, who said that?
Wait, don't answer that. I know who. Elad's talking behind our backs again.
