Ulcer! Anyone know about cabbage juice & juicers?

I've got an ulcer. Since I don't want needless tests, antibiotics, or surgery, I'm not going to the doctor to find out what I already know.

The woman at the health food store said I need cabbage juice and radish juice.

Guess what? With all the juice bars around, none of them sell cabbage or radish juice.

Okay, so I have to buy a juicer. Naturally the cheapest is at Wal-Mart, so I'll have to pay more elsewhere for the same model or something similar.

But what I need to know is, red cabbage or white cabbage? Red radishes or black radishes?

Ouch! This stupid thing hurts! Any advice will be gratefully appreciated!

1. I've read that cabbage juice is good for ulcers
I'm not too familiar with it, though, so I can't really be much help in that department.

For starters, I'd recommend organic whole leaf aloe vera juice (you can find this at the health food store). Drink 6 oz mixed with your favorite juice at least twice a day. Once the ulcer is healed, there are other things you can do to heal your entire digestive system from top to bottom, to prevent future ulcers, but you need to heal it first, and aloe vera juice is a great choice for that.

Make sure you do not chew gum, drink coffee, alcohol, tea or soda pop until it's healed.

2. Thanks, Elad!

I'll definitely try the aloe vera juice.

I don't drink alcohol, I rarely chew gum, and I only occasionally drink soda. I've cut out coffee and tea. But I smoke and that's impossible with an ulcer. So I've been lighting a cigarette a few times a day and just holding it without inhaling. I suppose the smoke alone is harming me, but I need the comfort.

Okay--back soon. I'm on my way to the health food store for whole leaf aloe vera juice. Good ol' Elad! Good ol' DU! I knew somebody'd come through for me. Blessings and tears of gratitude!

3. Oh, well. The health food store got robbed.

The cops were there, the store was closed, and they said it would stay closed for 3 hours. I guess when you get robbed and file a police report, you get robbed twice, because you lose three hours worth of business. I'll try again after the next storm goes through in a day or two. With my luck, the robbers probably took the money and grabbed all the aloe vera juice on their way out.

4. My father drinks cabbage juice
for ulcers and he uses the white cabbages. I don't know about the radishes, I don't think he uses them.

5. I've been juicing for four days now.

I use white cabbage and daikon radishes, with celery, carrots, and ginger root.

It is almost a full time job. Regular shopping for veggies. Wash and prepare veggies. Juice veggies, drink juice, wash juicer. Rinse and repeat.

But it works! I am not in constant pain any more. A lot cheaper than taking pills, no side effects to worry about, and so much better than invasive tests, surgery, or antibiotics.

I know that they now say ulcers are caused by bacteria and can be cured by antibiotics. But those bacteria can be present in the body without causing problems, so antibiotics, by upsetting the balance of benign bacteria, can actually cause ulcers in the first place--and a lot of other problems.

A friend got the juicer for me at Costco. It's a Jack LaLanne power juicer, and it works fine. But it won't make smoothies, so I might eventually get a blender also. That can wait until the ulcer is completely gone and the juicer is paid for.

I'm a big carrot juice believer. A neighbor told me about carrot juice years ago when I was diagnosed with a precancerous condition. Two weeks of carrot juice and the precancerous condition just disappeared. Could be coincidence, but I've believed in carrot juice ever since. So I was ready for cabbage juice, and it really does seem to be working. With cabbage and radish juice for the ulcer, and carrots thrown in for taste and any other benefits, I'm a happy juicer now. I'm not sure why I'm adding the celery and ginger root, but they were in two or three different cabbage juice recipes, and I guessed they wouldn't hurt.

Amazing how quickly pain can induce me to change my entire lifestyle!
