Here we have a DUer without financial means attempting to point out a serious issue regarding the content of ads on DU, only to be repeatedly told to buy a star in order to avoid seeing the ads. This continues even after the DUer explains that doing so would be financially impossible.

Let's see if there's any way we can get this DUer a star, if for no other reason to compensate them for what poor people often have to go through here on DU, which ought to be (and all too often isn't) a sanctuary for people in economic distress. I'd do it myself, but my situation is identical, as most here know.

And, while we're at it, let's also support the OP in urging management to do whatever is necessary to keep right-wing teabagger ads off DU.

I'd help, but am revelling in the finacial strain of the times as well with 2 grossly underemployed adults in the house supporting a college student and two cats.

PS: You might want to post this in other forums (if you can) that get more traffic. I've seen people in GD offering stars, I'd start there. Good luck!

3. I may be a bit late in responding to your post

because I'm still a newbie.

I'll be happy to donate a star. I'm so very fortunate in having a secure job and whatever comes with it. It breaks my heart (read: it pisses me the fuck off) to see posts saying "You didn't donate".

*How* should some of our DU brothers and sisters be able to donate when they only have the choice of either paying for meals / bills or buying a DU star? If we get going along these lines here on DU... that is sad. Very sad.
