Bill requiring ultrasound before abortions clears Florida Senate panel
Edited on Wed Apr-09-08 07:03 AM by flashl
TALLAHASSEE - A Senate panel Tuesday approved a bill requiring that women seeking an abortion first get an ultrasound exam, but the narrow 4-3 vote clouded the future of a measure already passed by the House.

The Health Regulation Committee approved the measure (SB 2400), which critics blast as a clear assault on abortion rights. Supporters defend it as requiring only that women avail themselves of a technological advancement that will protect their health.

The sharply divided vote reflects the more moderate Senate, where all 40 senators will likely vote on the measure within the next two weeks.

...

The legislation would require all women seeking to terminate their pregnancies to first pay for an ultrasound procedure and view the results — unless they signed a waiver. Victims of rape, incest, domestic violence or human trafficking would be automatically exempt if they can document the crimes against them.

Sun Sentinel

Why did legislators take the time to note "human trafficking" in this bill?

Because, Florida has been on Human Rights Watch list for years because of its high volume trafficking of slaves. The one and same state that is legislating religion in the classroom.

1. IF THEY CAN DOCUMENT the crimes against them?
WTF does the woman have to do - carry a camera with her at all times so that she can get someone to tape/photograph while she's being assaulted / beaten/ raped? NOTICE THEY DO NOT specify what constitutes "documentation" of the crime. WHO gets to decide what's admissible as "documentation"?

WHAT THE HELL kind of neanderthal crap is that?

"Protect their health"? HOW? By causing them to have to PAY out of their own pocket for an expensive, unnecessary test? Bullshit.

:wtf:

3. I guess they mean a police report.
Which I'm sure they'll start combing with a fine-tooth comb looking for false charges so they can penalize the harlot even more for her insistence on having sex and having a choice about an unplanned pregnancy. Those nasty bitches. :sarcasm:

5. Exactly. The thing is, they didn't specify (deliberately so) what 'documenting'
means. I guess they (the MEN) get to decide on the spot in each case whether they deem any 'documentation' viable or not.

And you can bet - nothing ever will be. "Police report? Oh yea. There was one. But the slut didn't call police until the next day/10 minutes later/2 hours later/...oh and she never presented herself to have a rape kit done either - we don't see why having been drugged out of her mind or beat to a pulp and having her life threatened should have prevented the little slut from doing that - so - well, this documentation just isn't deemed acceptable. She must have been enjoying herself and just wants to use abortion as a form of birth control. So, she'll still have to pay for an ultrasound."

4. what's the "point" of the ultrasound
I know it's meant to be a financial burden and to show the woman the "life" inside her but what excuse do they use to get this through.

6. "to protect the woman's health"
believe it or not.

Same excuse they use for all their efforts to control/punish women/girls. "To protect their health".

I'm SURE those "men" in Texas who were running the child-sex cult were "protecting the health" or "protecting the lives" of the 13-year-old girls they were raping and impregnating, too.

Yea. Uh-huh.

7. To protect it from what?
I don't expect an answer because I know the words are only meant to sound like they give a damn. I find it all very disgusting and big brotherish.

8. to "protect" their lives and bodies from being under the control of...
...the women themselves instead of a bunch of men. Not that I'd ever expect them to ADMIT that but...that's what it is, IMO.

9. I think your right - after all women can't think for themselves
we're too emotional, weak and stupid. What a bunch of assholes.
