CVS Policy Supports Women
I just posted this in GD, but it seemed a good idea to post it here too.

Let's all go to CVS! Yay!

-----

Planned Parenthood For America has been urging major pharmacies to dispense legal medication, not moral grandstanding.

The latest PPFA update contains CVS's letter to Karen Pearl, PPFA's interim President. (Its a pdf file; seems I can't copy and paste)

One quote is this: "CVS dispenses all lawfull medications. In particular, CVS pharmacies fill prescriptions for all lawful, valid birth control medications, including emergency contraceptives."

Here's the link to the pdf
http://www.saveroe.com/media/104_cvsmay2005fax.pdf

Here's PPFA's "Fill My Pills Now" Campaign site and action opportunities. CVS's link is there (click "How Did My Pharmacy Score", then "CVS gets PPFA Thumbs Up")http://www.saveroe.com/fillmypillsnow/scored.php

Fight this lousy Administration, which relies on Destroying Women's Right to a productive, free life as one of it's pillars of power. Links to join PPFA and to donate are on the left of saveroe.com link above.

Thank you all,
Fizz

7. Illinois policy
I don't think we have CVS pharmacies in Illinois. Our Governor has made it AGAINST THE LAW to refuse a woman her birth control pills. Three pharmacists are suing him, he's suing their pharmacies right back.

3. By the way, you can cut-and-paste from a PDF
Just hit the "select tool" button in the toolbar and it will let you highlight and copy text.

4. Thanks.
Makes me really glad I switched my other prescriptions to them already. In the buy-bull belt you can never tell what's behind the white coat. Ask me sometime about the first GP I had when I moved here, I'm still pissed off about it...

5. Thanks for telling me!
I will be sure to keep that in mind when I am shopping.

Any word on what RiteAid's stance is on the morning-after pill?

I honestly didn't go read the details, but on PPFA's page, I saw that they were on the stupid regressive religious ideology is more important than the lives of women list.

8. When I told my CVS pharmacist that I applauded their policy on this issue
he and the techs behind the counter just looked at me like I was crazy and had no idea what I was talking about. Which was especially odd considering that the pharmacist there is also a repuke state legislator.

11. Thanks for the info.
My husband has a perscription he fills every month (not bc!) and we were thinking of transferring it to a new Walgreens that is supposed to open in our town, but I think we'll stick with Eckerds or CVS.
