Stop the discussion! The Intelligent Designer theory is correct.
Want to know how I know? Because I'm the Intelligent Designer.

Here's the deal. For my 17 trillionth birthday, I got this neat "Your First Universe" kit. Now, my parents were going on vacation, and they told me that I couldn't use it without supervision, so I had to wait a few billion years until they got back. Well, screw that. As soon as they were gone, I opened it up, read the Quick Start, and fired it up. It's really pretty easy. All you do is select a few rules, mix together some ingredients, put it in the reactor, and BOOM - just like putting Mentos in Pepsi. This was really cool. Until your damned Earth formed.

It turns out if you don't get the right balance of good and evil in the rules, things go a little...wrong. You people don't see it, but to me, it's like this really ugly, greasy ooze starts pouring out. And it smells like scared condor shit. Not only that, but you have to understand that once I set all this into action, I'm just mostly an observer. Yeah, I "created it". But I can't change it. The thing is, though, I can hear you whining (you call it "praying"). Well, it's driving me bat shit crazy. SHUT THE FUCK UP!

All you have to do is follow one rule and everything will be fine. No ooze. That is the Golden Rule. IT'S REALLY SIMPLE. EVEN YOU MORONS CAN FOLLOW IT.

My parents are going to be home soon. If this isn't cleaned up by then, well, there'll be Hell to pay.

6. That's almost the plot of a cute little web comic called Acid Reflux
A young goddess (only five millennia old) is given a toy universe to play with and has to fix it when it gets indigestion.

Sadly, it ended years ago without a real conclusion. But the story was fun. :)

8. Postscript...
Two things:

First, when I entered the setting for MaxSentientBeingsPerWorld, I inadvertently added a zero, so it's probably a getting a little crowded down there. Sorry...nothing I can do now.

Second, I just got a call from the power company, Exxon Universal (they're MUCH bigger than any of you thought), and I'm going to have to pull the plug. Don't worry. You won't notice anything...uh...immediately.

It's been fun.

Remember: There's only ONE rule.

. . . who not only won't follow the Rule, but smirk and tell others that the Rule is for chumps?

14. I imagine I might feel a little bad about it
But I suppose the real question is, "What would I want other people to do to me if I didn't follow the Rule?"

15. INTELLIGENT DESIGNER THEORY
No.

There is no intelligent designer.

I think that the universe is the equivalent of the mind of god.
It is itself the basis of all intelligence originating from its own structure and function.
It's evolution is entirely towards its own intelligence.

From that mind of god springs forth thought.
It takes a long time to get there, as matter evolves into intelligence.

There is no real divide between matter and life. It is a continuum.
There is no real divide between first nucleus of first one celled organism and the brain. It is a continuum.
There is ultimately no real divide between inorganic and organic. It is a continuum.

The universe began experiencing and learning in its first moment.
It continued to experience and learn from that moment onward.
We are only a part of that experiencing and learning.

The universe IS intelligence.

It is only we, humans, who want to make ourselves so special, so central to it all, so grandiose
that we want to confer on ourselves a privilege of unique intelligence. That isn't reality.
Neither is the idea of an "intelligent designer" outside of the process of universal intelligence.

Intelligence is forever.
Evolution is forever.

It is that forever, in both its simplicity and its incomprehensible complexity that has so defied our comprehension.

Cheers.

Robert Morpheal
