George Bush left a carbon footprint the size of Wales

This is what it must feel like to be invaded by George Bush.

First, his ground troops secured swathes of the capital and Home Counties, then his air force temporarily seized our biggest international airport.

Helicopter gunships shadowed his arrival as secret service agents, bristling with firepower and hardware, marshalled every step of his journey.

Meanwhile convoys of vehicles gas-guzzled their way along our roads and motorways, at one stage conveying him by limo just a couple of hundred yards through the grounds of Windsor Castle.

And all this was just to say goodbye.
