The Sun Also Sets
Climate Change: Not every scientist is part of Al Gore's mythical "consensus." Scientists worried about a new ice age seek funding to better observe something bigger than your SUV — the sun.

If we do head into a Maunder Minimum it will be chilly indeed!

carbon dioxide, but there has been speculation that global warming has prevented the return of an Ice Age that's due about now. I think that speculation is based on a very long cycle that sees earth's tilt in relation to the sun shifting slightly, a "wobble" if you will.

There is speculation also that the Little Ice Age is related to global warming.
Agriculture generates more carbon monoxide than natural landscapes. The theory is that fields went fallow all over the world following the epidemic of plague, so that carbon dioxide levels fell as well. With less carbon dioxide, the atmosphere released more heat back into space.

3. It's interesting, perhaps significant
that this piece was published in a business and investors publication whose readers would be more receptive to an attempted debunking of global climate change. Also, the Maunder's Minimum is real enough and the earth at that time did enter into a cooling cycle (1680-1710).

On the other hand, cleaning up our air, reducing toxic runoff, cleaning up the oceans, reducing the garbage we throw out endangering not only wildlife but humanity itself should certainly carry incredible weight in the goal of staving off global climate change.

I, personally, would like to stop worrying about members of my family forgetting their inhalers when traveling to their jobs at the university in this small mountain valley -- the air quality here is one of the worst in the nation during inversions for people with tendencies toward asthma.

4. Now if they'd just stop showing those fake pictures of the polar caps and glaciers receding!
