What's with all the earthquake activity near Puerto Rico?
I was checking earthquake activity on the USGS survey when I saw a map of Puerto Rico with a bunch of yellow squares, the most earthquake activity outside of California in the lower 48.

This was all news to me, can anyone shed some light?

Here is the latest list:

1. The earth is made up of tetonic plates
that have been moving for 6,000 years.

3. Those earthquakes are lined up right along the two plates
in your map, Caribbean and North American.

Is the Caribbean plate being squeezed by the plates surrounding it? Monserrat seems to be near the fault line of the South American plate.

Thanks for the map and the info!

5. I heard once that 90% of all quakes happen in Alaska.
I don't know if it's true.. or I mishead it.
