Medicare Part D --- Bait and Switch
In June I prepaid for a year's worth of Part D coverage.

I take no medications, but signed up with Humana's cheapest program -- just to avoid penalties.

Today, I got a renewal notice for coverage from Jan-Dec, 2007 that included a premium rise of 130%!

I called them, and they said (basically, tough luck) their plans are Jan-Dec.

I cancelled and demanded the remainder of the pre-paid money. Yes, it's a paltry sum --- but I won't be played the fool.

1. the whole Medicate Part D thing is a huge scam designed . . .
BY the insurance and pharmaceutical industries FOR the benefit of the insurance and pharmaceutical industries . . .

medical "consumers" (we used to call them patients) are, in the grand scheme of things, totally irrelevant . . .

2. That's terrible. I'm sorry they tried to do that to you.
Why not call your Senators and complain---after all, the Senate rubber-stamped this ill-conceived and contemptible Medicare D mess. They got you into this, so at least put them on the spot and ask them what THEY are going to do about it.

3. How easy is it to switch companies and go with an insurer
more reasonable?
