credit cards
I have a bank of america credit card. Last month I made a $75 payment and only $37 dollars came off the bill.I can't seem to find a person to talk to. Everything is a recorded message. If I make the minimum payment, it will take 14 yrs. to pay it off.I can't win.

2. What's your actual balance? Sounds like the rest went to interest.
Most credit cards require you to pay accrued interested plus a percentage of the balance (anywhere from 1 to 5% if I recall correctly).

6. If you paid 75,
16 would go toward your credit protection, 21 toward interest, and the remainder
to pay off the loan. 16+21+37 = 74 Would that explain where the money went?

Credit protection is usually not a good deal. It looks you are being charged an
additional one per cent per month or 12% annually for that coverage. That is
pure profit to them. And a big interest hike to you. I am guessing you are paying
a stated interest charge of 14% which calculates closer to 15% annually. Adding
the credit coverage almost doubles your rate. Most of the time, the coverage
only pays the minimum payment while you are qualified not the balance.

I do not know your circumstances, but you might want to forgo this charge and
pay your account off sooner.

Hope this helps! :hi:

That is what I do when they try to keep me in endless loop of voice mail.
They do make it hard intentionally.

Press the 0. That will usually get you through. Sometime I just start pressing buttions
and that works. Let us know if you get through. Good luck.

16. Credit protection is a rip-off. Just like extended warranties. I'd get rid of it and
pay off you balance.

It's worse than buying an extended warranty from Best Buy

15. Go to a credit union and
Edited on Tue Aug-09-11 01:40 AM by caty
get a credit card through them. You will have to open an account to do it. If you have a problem with your card after that, you can go to the credit union to straighten it out. Go to your nearest credit union and at least talk to someone there about it to see if it might be an option. We have got our credit card through a credit union several years ago and have been very happy with it and haven't had any problems.
