Will those of us collecting SS be impacted with this deal? SS was
mentioned that SS would be cut 2%. Does that affect us now or is that for future recipients? If so, I'm looking for a nice bridge. All I can hope for is Bernie Sanders and others to filibuster this catastrophe...

1. No, not your benefits...
but your children's SS benefits. Thank you Obama for touching the third rail!

3. Both of my sons, in their late 40s. Both work so hard. Third rail
is right. Both have said they didn't expect SS to be around for them, how incredibly sad.

2. No.
I understand that the payroll tax will be reduced by 2%. There was nothing pertaining to those receiving Social Security benefits.

5. Reduced by 2% for one year.
No, this is not going to reduce your or anyone else's Social Security benefits.

6. And I would assume for most people, the employee saves 1%, the employer saves 1%.
The difference is so small, I doubt people will even notice the difference.

7. 2% will be cut from FICA taxes on the employee side therefore creating a larger SS Shortfall
This will affect me (I am a twenty something). These cuts will be extended indefinitely and this will be the perfect opening for the Republicans to successful de-fund Social Security leading to massive cuts across the board and the complete dismantling of the program. Some form of it may exist as a welfare program but that is all.
