What organizations supported the Patriot Act?
I'm a grad student in library science, doing a project on the patriot act. One of my goals was to find some orgs that supported the Patriot Act. So far, I've been stymied, apart from one "coalition for security, liberty, and the law," which pretty much looks like a neocon think tank. Unsurprisingly, anti-act orgs are not difficult to find, from the ALA to the ACLU.

Does anyone know of other non-government orgs that supported the patriot act?

1. H.R. 3162 passed 357 to 66 in the House and 98 to 1 in the Senate. You might say Rep & Dems
both supported it.

3. yes, but that's why i said non-government
the point is to have both sides, although we of course are against it. I have a feeling most will be conservative think tanks, but there might be some other special interest groups

2. Did you look at police unions or fraternal organizations?
What about lobbyists defense contractors? Might even want to check out security/mercenary companies and those that operate privatized prisons. Run a JSTOR or Nexus Lexus (or is it the other way around) on the subject. You'll find something.

5. good point, i didn't think about the private security groups
we had kind of placed law enforcement into the gov't category, but i didn't think of the FOP or groups like that

7. patriot act
I'M sure FOX News , the leading cheerleader for the Iraq
War,would have supported an equally unconstitutional measure
like the Patriot Act.

8. The Obama Administration Supports the Patriot Act.
I suppose the stongest supporter of George Bush's patriot act would be the Obama Administration.
