Two weeks before classes were scheduled to begin, another Roman Catholic school is closing, this time in Allston – despite what parents said were assurances just two months ago that it would remain open.
``I just can't believe it,'' said sixth-grader Joey Poverchuk, 11, as he sat with buddies outside the school last night.
He and St. Anthony's other 94 students will have to go elsewhere next month, although the building itself will remain open because it houses several community programs, said Terrence C. Donilon, spokesman for the Archdiocese of Boston.

School officials had held out hope throughout the summer that enough students would register so that the school could stay open, despite its $300,000 deficit, Donilon said. But too many families left the area or failed to return registration cards. So the pastor, the Rev. Charles Higgins, reluctantly recommended that Archbishop Sean P. O'Malley close the school, Donilon said.
