I wanna say I'm sorry
I'm a 35 year old white guy. Irish and German if you care. During those 35 years I, like most people, have had some racist thoughts. Heck, I grew up in the first white town over from Camden, NJ. Anyway, that's not why I'm apologizing. I got over all that shit and I figure people grow. I want to apologize to any african americans, native americans and hispanics on these boards for all the racist assholes and racist things my (white) people have ever done to you. I hate prejudice and I hate injustice. Nothing I say can undo all the shit that was done to you but I feel the need to say what I did. May we all inhabit a racism-free country one day. Mitakuye oyasin.

1. apology
That was nicely said.

Sometimes I think it's the covert racism that's hardest to deal with.

People in denial about their own racism are the worst... and I'm just as guilty of that as anyone.

Peace,
Sue

2. Apologize For What?
You may feel sorry for what has happened.

You can prevent it from happening again. You need not apologize for what others do.

4. It is really decent of you to
express your own thoughts of racism and to apologize for having them.

I hope that you can make some friends of people in other races and just socialize together. When you are really friends with someone you begin to see things in a different light and their skin color disappears into the background. (You can have a lot of fun, too! :))

8. Don't Feel Guilty, Misery Only Persists.
It's clear you are past the denial of many whites and recognize that there is still a persistent problem. You can only be guilty of not doing anything about it, and if my online discussions about racism is evidence, white people like you come few and far between. Your kind statement is action enough as far as I'm concerned.
