While Warning About Fat, U.S. Pushes Sales of Cheese
Domino’s Pizza was hurting early last year. Domestic sales had fallen, and a survey of big pizza chain customers left the company tied for the worst tasting pies.

Then help arrived from an organization called Dairy Management. It teamed up with Domino’s to develop a new line of pizzas with 40 percent more cheese, and proceeded to devise and pay for a $12 million marketing campaign.

Consumers devoured the cheesier pizza, and sales soared by double digits. “This partnership is clearly working,” Brandon Solano, the Domino’s vice president for brand innovation, said in a statement to The New York Times.

But as healthy as this pizza has been for Domino’s, one slice contains as much as two-thirds of a day’s maximum recommended amount of saturated fat, which has been linked to heart disease and is high in calories.

2. Good For Domino's
I've always loved their product and was worried about them going under.

As for the saturated fat...unless you eat a whole pizza twice a week it probably isn't that big of a deal. I usually order light or no cheese but double the sauce...so good in the tummy.

I'm more worried about the Na content which is incredibly high. My cholesterol is under 100 but my BP has started to creep up. So, I only have Domio's maybe once per month.

Again...good for Domino's and the Dairy industry.

3. I disagree.
Many people have pizzas at least once a week, and their knowledge of nutrition is non-existent. I have had many tasty pizzas without cheese. Cheese is the lazy, fast and dangerous way to good taste.

5. Well, sure if you put it that way.
But honestly, how can they not know that pizza is unhealthy. Nutrition information is available on the internet for all to see. You can even get it at the franchise. Even if the public school system failed you it is still easy to get health/nutrition information on sights like WebMD.

At this point ignorance is a choice. If you make that choice then shame on you. But don't try to pass judgment/legislation that could affect those of us who are responsible enough to do a 3 minute web search.

You can't blame Domino's...they are only guilty of making a DELICIOUS product. They don't claim that it will help you live forever in the body of a greek god.

8. Delicious?
Ha ha ha ha....

That's why they have all the commercials about how much they sucked and they're changing their product to actually be good?

Sorry, but Dominoes and delicious are two words that haven't been uttered in a sentence together by anyone I know.

(Disclaimer: I live in Brooklyn, so Dominoes, or any of the pizza chains, are really not something I'd consider purchasing if I was in the mood for pizza.)

4. Cheese itself isn't BAD for you ...
... its when you pile it on pizza, burgers, nacho's, pasta, chili dogs, etc etc ...

6. I eat a slice of pizza once a week
Oh, heart attack city. I also weight 102 lbs. I am of Italian hertiage and have been eating pizza all my 62 years. When I was a kid, my Grandma and Mom actually MADE it at home; same for the cheesy ravioli and lasagna. BTW, my Grandma lived to be 84 and my Mom 75. How long do you want people to live?
