More alarm on raw milk from Gibbon, Minn., farm
http://www.startribune.com/local/106089223.html

"Seven more people have gotten sick after drinking raw milk from a rebel dairy farmer who has kept churning out product despite a state order to stop, health regulators said Thursday.

It's the latest development in a months-long saga over unpasteurized or raw milk that started with eight cases of E. coli sickness that were linked to milk from Mike Hartmann's farm in Gibbon, Minn.

Public health authorities widely decry raw milk as potentially dangerous, since it doesn't undergo pasteurization to kill pathogens, but some natural food advocates revere it as a healthful tonic of sorts, superior in taste and nutrients."

E. coli and Campylobacter and Cryptosporidium, oh my!

Quick, someone remind me of the myriad health benefits of parasite infection again!

2. No jail time for poisoning people? He'd be in the slam if...
he dosed a guest with rat poison. Or Alice B. Toklas brownies.

Anyway, if the state can't shut him down, there's always lawsuits. Coupla dozen people suing him should do the trick-- I doubt he has insurance for this.

(And how long before the Raw Milk Marching and Chowder Society comes in to defend this poor guy being hounded by Corporate Food?)

5. If you want to drink raw milk, you should really know the cows personally
Don't buy it from a farm, grow it yourself. If you can't or won't do that, then accept that you need to take special precautions for safety.
