Heart attack survivors 'fear sex'
Heart attack survivors are highly likely to avoid sex, fearing it could kill them, US researchers say.

The team told an American Heart Association meeting that those whose doctors failed to talk to them about sex were most likely to avoid it.

Dr Stacy Tessler Lindau, who led the study of 1,700 people, said the chance of dying during sex was "really small".

The British Heart Foundation backed her call for doctors to discuss sex with their patients to allay their fears.

2. Actually with my heart attack last August my biggest fear is doing yard work
sure enough after putting the lawn mowing off since spring sprung, I went out to the knee high grass and mowed it down which caused shortness of breath and pain in the left arm. On the other hand, while in the hospital waiting for them to decide what they were going to do with me, the head nurse assigned a guard to my door every time the SO showed up because I dared ask if I could have the door shut so SO could give me a bj, hey if your going to go, then go with a smile.

4. You need to talk to your doctor about that
because there are things he can suggest that will prevent that kind of pain.

Still, that would give me just the excuse I need to hire somebody to mow the damn grass if I hadn't killed it all off by neglect. I loathe yard work.

3. Actually, there are a lot of fears after a heart attack
and a period of severe depression is normal after such an event, whether or not it has required surgery.

Such a brush with mortality leads to overcompensation in the wrong direction. Slowly building activity, and that includes sex, is one of the things that will provide the collateral circulation necessary to survive another attack.
