Dr Paolo Zamboni Offers Hope for MS Patients
Since Dr Zamboni is American, I expect most MS sufferers will know bout his work. Anyway, here are a couple of links for any people who haven't:

1. Such a strange finding! I've been following people who had the surgery
here
http://www.thisisms.com/ftopict-8346.html

The thread is only for people going through the procedure
Seems what is helped immediately is fatigue and "brain fog". I think they all went to Stanford for the procedure

They have a Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI) forum
http://www.thisisms.com/forums-viewforum.html

There are complications to the surgery. One person reporting in first link had a stent migrate into his heart and had to have a heart/lung bypass and spend time on a machine...

Using balloons to open vein is easier, as Zamboni did, but they tend to collpase so the dr in Stanford uses stents
While few are doing the surgery at all yet there are investigational studies nationwide and world wide

Dr Zamboni is not American though (well maybe his mom is, who knows). He is in Italy

Boy are a lot of drug companies going to be unhappy. They have all the MS people paying $1,500 month for life to inject their drugs...and MS is rarely life shortening so that is a lot of money they stand to lose

3. Thank you !!! k*r - rate it up
Nothing in medicine could be better than a cure for MS because of the people it would help and because it would bring us back to the reality that this is what we should be all about as a people, innovation and science, treatment and recovery, and care for each other.

This is great hope, real hope.

:hi:

8. I'd like to see some long term follow-up before breaking out the champagne.
Don't MS symptoms tend to wax and wane normally?
