US Spends twice Brit level, yet we are sicker than Brits, die younger
The study in Wednesday's Journal of the American Medical Association forgets to note that our system allows us to have these very profitable Health Insurance Companies that control our Congress, and polluting industry that neither pays for clean up or the deaths it causes, or allows our Congress to worry about such things..

Study Shows Americans Sicker Than English

CHICAGO - Middle-aged, white Americans are much sicker than their counterparts in England, startling new research shows, despite U.S. health care spending per person that's more than double what England spends.

A higher rate of Americans tested positive for diabetes and heart disease than the English. Americans also self-reported more diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, lung disease and cancer.

The gap between the countries holds true for educated and uneducated, rich and poor.

"At every point in the social hierarchy there is more illness in the United States than in England and the differences are really dramatic," said study co-author Dr. Michael Marmot, an epidemiologist at University College London in England.<snip>

4. That is because facts have a librul bias.
We need to think with our guts. Our guts tell us that socialist healthcare means standing in line for 27 hours to have critical heart surgery and being in bed with somebody named Harry and Louise and having to go to their doctor who is some sort of communist who got his degree in mexico and snuck across the border with the rest of the terrorists to take good jobs from hardworking 'mericans who can't sing the spangled banner in english and go to church.

5. True-and it explains non-rich deaths-but rich also get hit and environment
I suspect is the cause as our corporatiuons do not let environmental problems affect the bottom line, and our Congress is owned by the corporations.

3. differences
Different food and water additives, gun control, less violence in their media could all play a role in health.

7. That's why I try to do much of my shopping at Trader Joe's
No GM! And organic milk... no hormones, insecticides, antibiotics...

How can we have social medicine? Think of all the insurance companies going out of business! And the drug companies! :sarcasm:

8. Actually 99% of the Ins employees have work as admistrators of the Gov
plan after we have Nat'l health.

It already works that way in Medicare and Medicaid.
