Demand "outstripping" supply for swine flu vaccine
http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_13497247

For all the press discussion about people supposedly avoiding the vaccine, there doesn't seem to be a shortage of demand. Several nurses who work in general practice offices have needed nightly drinking debriefings after days on the phone with patients and parents who demand the vaccine NOW!

Anyway, in my anecdotal, real-life experience, it seems like the demand is high, and this piece somewhat backs that up.

1. Wow! It appears that the anti-vax crowd must unrecommend even something like this.
Yikes.

2. What would make people want to get the swine flu vaccine?
Thinking that the supplies are low due to a large demand. That would get people out in throngs, desperate for their dose.

It would be embarrassing for the CDC to rush vaccine into place, then have it go unused. All this past week I have seen one article after the other hyping up the dangers of the flu. It's all part of the selling of the vaccine. And now, saying the demand is high, implying a shortage, is a good tactic to get people out there asking for it.

That's been a good strategy since Cabbage Patch Dolls.

3. If you say so...
but no hyping has been necessary, in my experience this year. People want it. Flu clinic days have been busy everywhere, much more than normal.

4. I am curious to see what the turn out will be at my school
for the vaccine, which will be available next week. Fewer people got the seasonal flu shots this year, but it may be they are simply much more concerned about the swine flu.

7. Interesting.
I'd love to hear what happens. It's been a crazy year here, for some reason.
