We need to get this health care reform bill passed and behind us as soon as possible. This has been taking up nearly all of the president's time and there are a lot of other serious issues he needs to deal with--Afghanistan, Cap & Trade, and if Iran becomes a nuclear power, no health care reform bill will likely help us in an Armageddon.
If we continue this party-infighting, our entire country, let alone our party, will be greatly hurt.
Now, of the 53 Blue Dog Democrats in the House, how many of them would vote for a bill...
1)With an Active Public Option? 2)With an Individual Insurance Mandate AND a Public Option "Trigger"? 3)With an Individual Insurance Mandate with NO public option?
Take the number of Blue Dog votes for each, add it to approx. 204 and see which of these would break the 218-vote mark. Also, count up the votes in the Senate and see which of the above 3 can get 60 votes (or 51, if reconciliation is used).
The time for debate is over, and the time for action has come. Let's find out what reform we CAN get passed in 2009 and DO IT. Too much is at stake to let this drag on any longer.
