Anecdote: Overheard two Republicans at lunch
talking about health care reform. The first one said they were afraid the government would be taking over more areas, not just "medicine". (As if government has no finger in medical care as is.) The second one said, well something has to be done. He doesn't like Obama's plan, but he does respect the guy for doing something and even coming out and saying that even without support, Obama is going to force it through, make something happen.

:wow:

3. I told a batch (litter? coven? murder? gaggle?) of Republicans they were giving Obama....
waaaaayyyyyy too much credit as being all-powerful and think the clarification of the President's duties/responsibilities/authority snapped them back to some semblance of reality.

Of course the conversation then turned to the devils that are Reid and Pelosi so, of course, I had to mention that neither of them have accomplished shit since gaining "power". Since nobody had examples of Pelosi's or Reid's over-reaching their authority and draconian abuse of power, I'll assume they had to think about that too. Since neither Faux or Rush were blaring in the office, I'll assume it was a visceral experience and, hopefully, somewhat painful.

The very least we can do is make them think about what their personal Congresscritters have done for THEM lately and, as I pointed out, the lack of power invested in the Presidency or Congressional leaders.
