LEVELAND, Jan. 27 - In a reprise of the presidential campaign, President Bush and Senator John Kerry offered dueling visions of health care on Thursday. It was their most direct back-and-forth - from two different cities - over any domestic issue since Election Day.

"That's how the president who promised to usher in a 'responsibility era' proposes to deal with a real and present health care crisis, even as he seeks to hype a phony crisis in Social Security," Mr. Kerry said, after telling his audience that Mr. Bush's plan would raise insurance premiums and leave families and children without care. "You know what that sounds like to me? Sounds like a cradle-to-grave irresponsibility plan."

Mr. Kerry's proposal, which he introduced as legislation on Monday, would provide health coverage to the 11 million children who lack it by offering fiscal incentives to states. Currently, states pay half the cost of Medicaid, the government health plan for the poor.<snip>

"When people own their own health records, when they own their own health savings, their own health insurance, it produces better care, lower costs and fewer mistakes," Mr. Leavitt, a former Utah governor, said.

1. Fucking assholes
You own your own catastrophic and chronic illnesses and should just fuck off and die. I wonder if those shitstains are considering abolishing the property taxes that support the fire department, so that everyone who has a house fire 'owns' it.
